Bethel Weekday Preschool

We offer a stimulating, play-based educational program that nurtures children in the spirit of Christian love. A place to see your child thrive & learn, where your family can grow with other families.

Dear Parents,

Our goal is to love and nurture your child and provide a secure Christian environment while encouraging foundational academic skills. We believe that children learn best through play.

We focus on developmentally appropriate activities that promote the development of the whole child. By following this philosophy, we believe children become enthusiastic, life-long learners and develop healthy self-esteem.

At Bethel Weekday Preschool your child will be an explorer, a problem solver, an artist, and a scientist as they participate in our learning centers. We support individual learning styles and allow children to develop at their own rate. We teach and encourage self-responsibility and the importance of acting on the behalf of others.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your child’s formative years. We look forward to working with you and your child!

General Information

Our mission is to nurture the growth of children and their families by providing a Christian environment that will enrich them spiritually, intellectually, physically and emotionally. Our program is a self-supporting outreach ministry to members of Bethel Presbyterian Church and the surrounding community.

Our hours of operation are 9:15am to 1pm Monday through Thursday, plus one Pre-K class that runs Monday through Friday, with lunch as part of our daily schedule. Our school year runs from September to mid-May with our calendar following the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System (with a few exceptions).

We have dedicated, highly-trained staff and many teachers have been with the program for more than a decade. Each year every member of the staff is certified in CPR and First Aid treatment. Every teacher takes continuing education classes to ensure that your child receives the best, most current, preschool experience possible.

  • All currently enrolled children of church members and non-church members will be included in the lottery simultaneously.
  • All currently enrolled children who are 5 by August 31st will have priority and automatically secure a spot in the 5 day Pre-K class. All others will be entered into a lottery for the remaining slots.
  • The preschool will establish a waiting list if your choice of class is not available. The general public applicants will fill the remaining slots through a lottery process and a wait list will be established for those who are not chosen.

Philosophy & Program Goals

Our students grow in the understanding of God as the Creator and Loving Father who has unconditional love for us. He gave us his son Jesus to be our Forever Friend and Savior. We are each a precious gift, uniquely created for a God designed purpose.

Our students learn how to adjust to a group environment and to work and play with peers. We encourage the development of friendships and learning how to work out disagreements through problem solving and compromises.

Our curriculum supports the development of the whole child. Students are immersed in a literacy-rich learning environment, with age appropriate learning centers that enable discovery and broaden creativity. We help to develop a life-long love of learning and teach skills important for success in life and school.

Our students are provided opportunities to enhance and refine both gross and fine motor skills. We teach the importance of safety and maintaining good health habits.

Our students are made to feel secure and safe in a school environment. We support the development of positive self-esteem and self-confidence. Children learn respect for others and understand that mistakes are an acceptable part of the learning process.

Enrichment Opportunities

We are proud to offer opportunities that go above and beyond the average school day.

  • Chapel: Held once a week with our director of Christian Education. Our students learn about the Bible through interactive stories and songs.
  • Hot Lunch (optional): Offered a few times a month for a small fee. We work with local restaurants to offer a variety of fun and nutritional lunches.
  • Screenings: Offered annually, with parental consent. Local professionals screen for speech, hearing, vision, and motor skills to ensure our students are meeting developmental milestones.
  • Gross Motor Time: Part of the daily schedule, rain or shine. We are fortunate to have both a playground and full indoor gym facility.
